The Girl who Loves Sewing!
Hi, my name is Olga, I am a Russian girl with an Aussie heart. I am so grateful to live in the most beautiful country in the world and have an opportunity to follow my sewing passion! I love this country for its multicultural community and the endless opportunity for everyone who seek! I am also a happy wife to hus- band John, a proud mum to 7.5-year-old Oliver and 3-year-old Isabella, who inspire and support me every step of the way!
From a young age I was mesmerised by the ability to turn fabrics into unique garments, which often drew comment from admirers for their beauty and charac- ter. Below are some hard to find pictures of me in my “me made” garments when I was still studying at school.
You Might Find It Hard To Believe That I Am A Process Engineer In Mining Industry By My Degree…
You might find it hard to believe that I am a Process Engineer by my degree, but I am a seamstress in my heart! Sewing been my passion through all my life. I was dreaming about becom- ing a fashion designer. But reality of life made me to choose different profession and I become a process engineer in mining industry, which I don’t have any regrets for.
My profession and my education – this is what brought me here to Australia, Perth where I met the love of my life and created my own family. I never stop sewing through all the years! Now it’s my time to shine and with support of my family I decided to leave my 9 to 5 job to follow my passion and share it with the world! Here are some pictures of me at my previous life in Mining Industry.
I honestly believe that Sewing is a lifelong skill useful for any household, whether you make home decor project, hand- made gift, clothing for yourself, your kids or just perform simple alteration! For me, sewing is about taking time for myself from my busy schedule and losing myself to the art of creating. While I am sewing, I am engaged in the present moment which is grounding and peaceful. Sewing is like meditation and a therapy for me. My studio thimbles is the place where I combine my two greatest passions – sewing and connecting with people through teaching and creating together.
I am teaching sewing different ages including kids and adults. Come to my studio in Subiaco to learn beginner sewing skills and I will be sharing all my tricks and secrets with you.

Daniela
Allow me to introduce Daniela, our enthusiastic new sewing instructor! With her friendly approach, extensive knowledge, and genuine passion for sewing, Daniela is a valuable addition to our team. I connected with Daniela through our local sewing community, where her eagerness to share her love of sewing and teaching immediately caught my attention. Originally from Germany, Daniela’s background in teaching chemistry at the university level resonated with me, as I also have an engineering background. Despite initially learning to sew as a child with her grandmother, Daniela rediscovered her passion for sewing later in life and found immense satisfaction in it. As our business continues to grow and the demand for evening classes increases, I knew we needed another sewing teacher to support our students. When I met Daniela and felt an instant connection, offering her a position on our team was an easy decision. When you have Daniela as your instructor, you can expect loads of patience, calm energy, and an amazing learning environment for sewing.
Denise
Introducing Denise, our new sewing instructor! Denise’s friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate approach to teaching makes her an invaluable addition to our team. We first connected at one of our collaboration sewing workshops, where her willingness to assist others and share her love for sewing stood out. With years of experience teaching kids how to sew as home economic teacher, Denise brings patience, expertise, and a wealth of tips and tricks to our classes. Join us in welcoming Denise to the Studio Thimbles family, where she shares our passion for sewing and teaching, enriching our sewing community with her expertise, dedication, and lovely bubbly personality.
Naomi
I am thrilled to introduce Naomi, our newest sewing instructor! Naomi’s journey with sewing began at a young age, sewing on her mum’s lap and developing a deep love for crafting and clothing. Her passion led her to study fashion design at Curtin University, where she embraced the principles of slow, sustainable, and ethical fashion. Outside of teaching at Studio Thimbles, Naomi works as a fashion technician at South Metro Tafe and freelances as a sewing pattern developer. Whenever I visited the pattern shop where Naomi worked, I was captivated by her warmth and dedication to customer satisfaction. I knew she would be a perfect fit for our teaching family. Now, as part of Studio Thimbles, I am extremely happy to have her on board! With Naomi as your teacher, be prepared for enriching classes filled with valuable sewing tips and tricks.
My vision is to inspire ordinary people through my sewing classes and workshops to explore the possiblity of a fully handmade wardrobe.
